Name: Leon S Kennedy
Door: Door Pass

Canon: Resident Evil
Canon Point: Post RE4 Remake

Age: 27
Appearance: here

History: History. At his canon point, only the info through 2004 - Los Illuminados (following the events of the remakes) is relative.
CR AU (Optional): none

Personality:
Positive Trait: Selfless
Although Leon's ability to persevere through difficult situations is arguably his greatest asset and the reason he's even still alive, his selflessness is his defining trait. He has a strong sense of justice and hates seeing innocents suffer. More than just doing his missions, Leon absolutely puts himself in the line of fire to protect anyone he sees as innocent. During Raccoon City, he did everything he could for anyone he ran across, even taking a literal bullet meant for someone else. After Raccoon City, the government used the well-being of a little girl as leverage to help force Leon into working for them. During Operation Javier, Leon refuses to 'put down' an infected innocent, instead protecting her, even though it greatly compromises the mission and puts him in danger. Los Illuminados is his first mission to actually rescue and protect somebody, but even here he goes to extremes like making sure his charge, Ashley, undergoes a cure for what they're both infected with first to ensure that she makes it. Throughout the years he's faced a lot of people with ulterior motives who are deceptive and ready to stab him in the back or use him. Despite this, he never really loses his core belief that people are good and worth protecting at all costs.

Negative Trait: Empathetic
How is being empathetic a negative trait? Hear me out. In Leon's line of work, who the 'bad guy' is isn't usually black and white. People have motives for what they're doing and they have reasons they think the way they do. Leon really can't afford to entertain what people have been through, giving the wrong person a second chance or the benefit of the doubt can mean getting used, or worse, a horrific death. During the events of Raccoon City, when Leon is a naive, fresh-faced rookie, this flaw is a little more forgivable but, despite the tough training and increasingly awful missions he's been on, Leon still seems to make this same mistake. He knows what Ada is doing and that she's working against him and just can't bring himself to do anything about it. Not only does he not want to kill his former comrade now turned traitor, Krauser, but having to do so in order not to get killed himself obviously deeply upsets him. He even runs into a stranger who he learns was a scientist for Umbrella, someone who had worked on Las Plagas, the brainwashing 'virus' infecting the villagers in Spain, and still ends up trusting him and also mourning his death. Despite trying to keep people at arm's length and not get attached, he just can't. In canon, this usually ends up in him feeling deep loss, guilt, inadequacy, and regret but in Duplicity it might lead to some interesting and angsty situations.

Negative Trait: Broken
Being calm and professional in a high-stress job is great in the moment, but Leon obviously compartmentalizes pain and loss. He very obviously had PTSD from his time in Raccoon City and has now been voluntold to work for the US government. With no time to really work through what he'd been through, he was thrown into training and then sent out on more missions against monsters. He appears in RE4 with dark circles under his eyes, likely struggling to sleep if he's managing to at all. He has a history of self-medicates with alcohol, which will only worsen as time goes on, and avoids dealing with the traumatic experiences he's had. He certainly doesn't like talking about any of it. And his time in Spain, watching Luis die and having to kill Krauser, an old comrade, with his own hands, definitely haven't helped his mental well-being.

Negative Trait: Mouthy AF
A particularly bad trait for a Submissive in Duplicity to have, Leon loves to run his mouth. He's a mouthy little shit. It's actually a shock that his mouth hasn't gotten him killed yet. He's snarky and uses (bad) humor as a way to deal with things or deflect. This can be anything from making fun of virus-induced powers, recommending the BOW he was fighting 'get a refund', to ridiculously bad one-liners... Hasta Luego... nighty night, knights (yeah, he was fighting knights). Even when the chips are down and it looks like he's an inch away from death, he'd use his last breath to say some defiant quip.

Powers and Abilities:
Leon is human (with a bit of toughness plot armor), so no powers.
Abilities:
- expertise in all manner of firearms and hand-to-hand combat
- special ops training
- canon claims he's highly trained with all vehicles but this tends to translate into him crashing them somehow
- zombie killin' experience
- ridiculous survival skills (dude can thrive on dead snakes he's killed)

Inventory: Combat Knife, handgun, first aid spray
